FSU COLLEGE OF BUSINESS FEST

THEME: A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES!
As a student in the Hospitality Management Program at Ferris State University, we have the unique opportunity to produce several events for the College of Business and Dean Nicol every semester. COB Fest is an event that is held at the beginning of the semester and is held to connect students with Registered Student Organizations through Ferris State University College of Business. This year the event was held in the College of Business and IRC Connector on Ferris State University campus on September 13th, 2018 at 5pm.

As our initial meeting we met as a class to discuss how we were to proceed with the event. His objectives for this event were to have as many students attend as possible and get involved with Registered Student Organizations. Other stakeholders for this event included the Ferris COB students, COB faculty, the Registered Student Organizations in attendance, President Eisler, and Ferris State University itself.
From his request, we created event goals such as:
Increase student involvement
Increase student retention
Illustrate value of RSO involvement
To get 250 students in attendance (100+ than previous year)
Put on a fun event for students of the college of business
EVENT DEVELOPMENT
Our team had minimal time to prepare for this event as it occurred at the beginning of the semester and our class had not begun yet. For this event, we relied heavily on the FSU COB Marketing as we had little time to prepare. Although we had limited time, we still worked together to develop this event with tools such as production schedules, task lists, site maps, risk analysis, and more. I have attached these documents below! To view them in more detail, please click on them to enhance the image.

EVENT PRODUCTION
Below are some of the key aspects of our event that we planned in our short preparation.

CONCESSIONS
As a part of our planning process, we wanted our food for the event to reflect on our theme. We decided on hosting a concessions stand like you would see at a movie theatre and serve a Make-Your-Own Popcorn buffet.
DRAWINGS/GIVEAWAYS
As a part of the annual event, we hold a number of drawings throughout the night. This year in order to keep the students engaged we decided to do a gift card drawing every 15 minutes and hold the main drawing at the end. This is a photo of our drawing table during one of our first drawings.

RSO PARTICIPATION
Again, to further support our theme, we asked all RSO's that were participating to choose a movie that represented their organization in some way. Here is a photo of AIGA as Incredibles!
PHOTO BOOTHS
The atmosphere of this event was intended to be fun for students and a great way to introduce them to their new college and classmates. To support this we set up two photo booths for all students to enjoy. This is a photo of the Hospitality Management RSO's photo booth representing the movie, The Wedding Planner.

EVENT SUMMARY
After the conclusion of the event, our team returned to class to finalize the event and discuss our goals. Our goals included increasing student attendance, increasing RSO interaction, and provide a fun event for the students arriving to campus. After finalizing the event, we had roughly 240 students in attendance, RSO presidents were engaged and booths were decorated, and Dean Nichols was incredibly pleased. As the final document we finished our budget that I have attached below.
